Product Description Soup , the latest studio album from Euforquestra captures a band at peak performance in terms of songwriting, musicianship and energy. The album features 11 tracks (10 songs and 1 dub remix) that showcase how the group's songwriting/arranging skills have grown in the last three and a half years. In classic Eufórquestra fashion, Soup jumps seamlessly between genres, creating a diverse but cohesive ride for the listener. Long time fans will enjoy a well-produced batch of many of their favorite songs, while new listeners will have stumbled upon one of the most eclectic and musically competent bands on the scene today. Review A word of advice: this album may inspire you to grab the nearest person and kiss them. Really it s difficult to restrain yourself. It just makes you so damn happy. Euforquestra s fusion of reggae, funk, jazz, afrobeat, and latin rhythm appeal works wonderfully, and they ve created an album that flows effortlessly from track to track. I popped it into my CD player a few days ago and have had it on repeat ever since. Soup s upbeat energy proves irresistible, effortlessly blending diverse styles of music that were destined to live under one harmonic roof. From the first track to the last, the album drips rhythm that ll seep under your fingernails and creep into your brain. You won t be able to stop moving, be it tapping fingers or toes or jumping on the nearest table and shakin it. Songs such as Called You and Cause a Reaction boast a tangible reggae vibe permeated with different flavors of rhythms and beats, some afro-Cuban in texture, some jazzy. Melody Truck is my favorite track on the album, exuding a funk-licious wah-wah groove and colored with a lively chorus of horns. These guys have obviously worked hard, drawn from many styles of music and put together an album that I think everybody can find something in. They ve earned the highest honor a lowly music writer can bestow upon them a perfect rating. I ll be happily kissing strangers and jumping on tables until their next installment. --Scene Magazine - Fort Collins, CO --scenemagazine.infoOriginally from Iowa City, Iowa, Euforquestra has called Colorado home for the last 3 years. This Fort Collins based band joyfully brings its progressive, genre-crossing funk fusions to the Colorado music scene. With three full length albums to their name, Euforquestra continues to tour relentlessly, performing 22 shows in 12 states over the next 50 days. They have established a place for themselves on the national scene, playing all over the U.S. at clubs, concert halls, and festivals. This euphoric orchestra s 16 song set filled the dance floor with a blend of Afrobeat, Reggae, Afro-Cuban, Funk, and Dub. Mike Tallman s guitar and Matt Wright s keys on the opening moments of the explosive Afro-Cuban Ogun were like sonic bait that brought folks bouncing back inside from the courtyard. Once on the dance floor, the crowd was attacked from all sides. Austin Zalatel and Ryan Jeter s saxophones, Ben Soltau s bass, and Adam Grosso and Matt Grundstad s percussion worked everyone into a dance frenzy of epic proportion. Then, around four and a half minutes into the song, Matt began leading his crew in an entrancing call and response. While Ogun stretched well over ten minutes long, the dancers never wavered. In fact, the energy of both Euforquestra and the audience seemed to feed off each other and grow in intensity. It was the perfect way to hook us and we didn t want to be released. Reggae tinged originals like Cause a Dub and Called You and covers such as Led Zeppelin s Fool in the Rain and Peter Tosh s Reggaemylitis left everyone with permanent grins. Then another incredibly upbeat original song began and I witnessed an interesting phenomenon. A young woman in a raspberry beret (anyone else hearing Prince lyrics here?) started to dance with such wild abandon that, despite her obvious sex appeal, no one felt comfortable interrupting her joyful movement. That, I soon found out, was the power of Euforquestra s Soup. I highly recommend you give it a taste too. --Listen Up Denver (.com)It s not often you find a band that incorporates more genres in one show than you can count on a hand. But a band out of Colorado by way of Iowa is doing just that, and at a very high level. Euforquestra s self-described brand of Afro-Caribbean-Barnyard-Funk might sound difficult to comprehend but all you have to do is hear them perform live to instantly understand their mission. No matter what the influence or origin, Euforquestra will make you dance til you sweat. --Jambands (.com)
