Instant Miso Soup Broth - Made with Chickpeas (No Soy)
Certified Organic, Non GMO, Vegan, Gluten Free, No Preservatives, No Additives
These Gently Dried White Miso Crystals can be turned into soup or used to incorporate umami flavor into sauces, dressings, soups, or ramen
Preparation: Mix 2 Tablespoons with 6 oz of hot water for a balanced Miso Soup.
This lovely soup was is great for cool nights! It's a "miso" soup but it's made from chickpeas instead of soy. Each small bag has about 10 servings of a small 6oz bowl or cup of soup. The mix is thicker than powder but still dried; it did clump but was easy to break apart to measure out the 2 tablespoons. As for the taste; I wouldn't describe it as amazing, but it's good and not too high in sodium (about 270mg in each serving). I would recommend adding some other seasonings, vegetables, or tofu. Still; it's a quick and easy warm soup that is calming and warms you up.Overall, I'd recommend this.I had photos for this product but they got lost by Amazon :(I was very impressed with this miso and loved it! (I have since used the entire bag over the course of several months)It comes as an almost flat sealed paper-based bag and doesn't look like a lot but a little goes a long way and makes many cups of delicious broth. The mix itself is a blend of lightweight miso flakes, specks of seaweed that expand in water and become quite large, as well as small pieces of green onion. The flavor is perfect. Literally. It tastes like fresh, high quality white miso that is sweet and nutty, not overly strong but still very savory. The added seaweed and onion add the perfect "umph" to make me reach for this over the fresh miso I have in my fridge! While I prefer fresh organic miso for it's probiotic benefits, etc, I'm not joking that I somehow enjoyed this miso powder more than the fresh paste. And the ingredients are so clean and simple, no iffy stuff or vague additives to boost flavor and cut costs like "yeast extract", "natural flavors", and so on.This mixes and dissolves in warm water effortlessly and even though I used it at home, it would be so handy for camping, backpacking, travel, and on the go. I 100% recommend this. Everything I have tried from this brand has been good quality, too.Wow did we go through this quickly! We added some cooked tofu and I think No Salt, just to give it a little more body/flavor.We love having miso soup on Sushi Night! And this made it so easy.Highly Recommended!!!Wilderness Poets Miso With Seaweed & Chives is a fine miso soup minus the soy. Simply mix 2 Tbsp. of miso soup mix with 6 oz of hot water and mix. The manufacturer noted to not add boiling water as it will destroy beneficial probiotics. The instant miso soup has the appearance of feathery, light off-white colored flakes with dried seaweed and dried chopped chives. As soon as the hot water hit the dried miso mix, it immediately started to transform and change to the appearance of soup. The only areas of texture coming directly from the chives and seaweed. When tasting, you can tell it is miso but it tastes slightly different. It is not as salty and there is a richness element from the soy that is missing. But when it comes down to it, I found it to be a tasty soup. The inclusion of the seaweed makes it closer to the real deal. If I were allergic to soy or soy intolerant, I would be happy to have an option that tastes similar to its soy based miso counterpart. The ingredients are clean - Organic Chickpea Miso, Wakame Seaweed, and Organic Chives. It can also be used in sauces, dressings, or ramen. The 2.5 oz pouch has 10 servings in it. There is 270 mg of Sodium, 1 g of Protein, and 15 mg of Potassium per serving. This packet would be perfect to enjoy at home, pack in a backpack when camping, or even include in an earthquake preparedness kit. The manufacturer notes that this product is USDA Organic, Non-GMO, Vegan, Gluten Free, Soy Free, has live probiotics, and has no preservatives or additives. There is also a note that this product was made in a facility that processes various tree nuts. So if you have an allergy, please be aware. The product has a best by date of more than a year from the day I received it. I was really impressed with this soy free miso soup and look forward to enjoying many more bowls of it.This is a bag of miso flakes with some chives and seaweed. One of the first things I noticed with this package was the sodium level. I was under the impression, right or wrong, that miso was high in sodium. However, this has 270mg of sodium per 2 Tbsp, which, depending on how much you actually end up using, could be lowish or high. If you end up using 3 servings at once, well that’s 810mg, which is high, so it kind of depends on how much you need for your taste buds. It’s certainly a lot less than a lot of bouillon products, though. This is made from brown rice koji and chickpeas instead of soy, so perhaps the soy-based products have a lot more salt. The flake for this dissolve instantly, so this is very quick and easy to make. You’re just pouring hot, though not boiling, water over it. I think this has a nice, light flavor to it, which I find pleasant, though it is perhaps a little bland. However, if you are salt sensitive, you might think it tastes pretty good. It is, at least, one way to have some of that miso flavor if you happen to be on a salt-restrictive diet. You can always add some salt substitute such as potassium chloride. Not bad overall, but it’s not likely to knock your socks off.
