Pizzelle Maker- Polished Electric Pizzelle Baker Press Makes Two 5-Inch Cookies at Once- Recipes Included- Pizzelle (pronounced with ts sound, like "pizza") (singular pizzella) are traditional Italian waffle cookies made from flour, eggs, sugar, butter or vegetable oil, and flavoring (often vanilla, anise, or lemon zest). Pizzelle can be hard and crisp or soft and chewy depending on the ingredients and method of preparation. Pizzelle were originally made in Ortona, in the Abruzzo region of south-central Italy. The name comes from the Italian word for "round" and "flat" (pizze); this is also the meaning of the word pizza. Many other cultures have developed a pizzelle-type cookie as part of their culture (for example, the Norwegian Krumkake). It is known to be one of the oldest cookie. Pizzelle are known as ferratelle in the Lazio region of Italy. In Molise they may be called ferratelle, cancelle, or pizzelle. The cookie dough or batter is put into a pizzelle iron. The iron stamps a snowflake pattern onto both sides of the thin golden-brown cookie, which has a crisp texture once it is cooled. Pizzelle shaped into a cannolo and filled with an orange-almond crème. Pizzelle are popular during Christmas and Easter. They are often found at Italian weddings, alongside other traditional pastries such as cannoli and traditional Italian cookies. It is also common for two pizzelle to be sandwiched with cannoli cream (ricotta blended with sugar) or hazelnut spread. Pizzelle, while still warm, can also be rolled using a wooden dowel to create cannoli shells.
Pizzelle Baker- Makes 2 pizzelles at one time - Recipes Included! Before baking the first pizzelle of the day, use a pastry brush to carefully coat the entire surface of both halves of the Pizzelle baker with vegetable oil or melted shortening
Pizzelle Maker- Cookies measure at 5 inches, the perfect bit size for cone! Polished surface creates perfect traditional pizzelles. Place about 1 teaspoon of batter into the center of each design - the batter will spread once the pizzelle maker is closed shut
Pizzelle Press- Steam guard protects hands. Extra-thick baking plates ensure even heat distribution.
To clean the cooking grids, just wipe thoroughly with a paper towel, absorbing any oil or butter that might be down in the grooves of the cookie pattern.
Wipe the outside of the baker with a damp cloth only. Do not clean the outside with any abrasive scouring pad or steel wool, as this will damage the finish. Do not immerse in water or any other liquid. Do not place in the dishwasher.
Good product, cooks my Pizzelle well.I needed a new iron especially for Christmas time and this little iron is perfect. Although there is no temperature control it is really not needed for Pizzelle's ant this little iron pumps them out at lightning speed. I love this and will be getting an additional one as family and friends discovered my recipes and I can't make them fast enough!Compact design hard to cleanI have only used this once, if you add too much dough it will overflow. It only takes about a min and half as it gets too brown, and isnt good.It is so easy to use. For gluten-free, I used the recipe that comes with the iron and substitutedKing Arthur Flour measure for measure. They came out perfect..Bought this for my daughter we, it’s perfectIt cooked them evenly, the light indicates the perfect time to take them out, I just wish they were thinner. They’re way thicker than the ones my family makes. This appliance is incompatible with a UK or European electricity supply, as it requires 110V and comes fitted with a US plug. This should have been highlighted by the seller but was not flagged anywhere in the product description.I received my order on a Sunday - to my surprise - very quickly! When I took it out of the box, I was disappointed to see how flimsy it is. It is very basic. No light alerts, no locks for handle. I made a batch of chocolate pizzelles from the recipe book. I had a bit of trouble gaging the quantity of batter I should put - as you can see from my picture! The machine works well enough - at times it does not generate equal heat (it is only 750 watts compared to my other one - Chef's Choice, PizzellePro - that generates 1,200). So, once I got the hang of it, it worked very well. Even though I sprayed the irons with PAM, at times the pizzelles stuck to the top plate. So, it does work, no bells and whistles. The little metal hook to keep both handles clamp down fell off, before I used it - but that does not matter with use. If you have a small budget and get it on special, I recommend it, but not full price.I purchased a pizzelle maker to test it out. Was so pleased that I purchased 2 additional ones to offer as gifts. What I found important for the batter not to stick is to take the time to heat the elements very well and wait until the light shows the pizzelle is ready before unlocking the pizzelle iron. If we want to rush ... and this is what I did initially ... it is a mess. You will need to unplug everything. Wait for the iron to cool off and then brush the batter from the cavities with a little brush (I used a tooth brush). If the iron is properly heated ... the pizzelle peel off perfectly. The recipe that comes with the iron is very tasty and easy to follow. Conclusion : I recommend this iron !I have wanted one of these since I married into an Italian Family and this year, Christmas came early, so I can use it Christmas Eve.I read all the reviews and not sure what other people were doing with theirs, but if you follow the manufacturer's instructions, it works great! The day before I used it, I took a damp cloth and went over the unit, waited about 20 min and plugged it in and let it heat up for about 10 min. Then let it cool and set it aside. There was an ever so slight scent of "new metal" to me.The next day I took my silicone brush (bought on Amazon) and some safflower oil and gave it a very thin coating, nothing should be dripping or you have used too much. Then I put 1 slightly heaping Tablespoon of the Batter Mix I made, onto each plate area, closed and used the clam to keep it shut.I have a little tool that came with a waffle maker I have (DID NOT COME WITH THIS UNIT) and it is perfect to remove the Pizzellas when they are slightly browning. Voila!I DO RECOMMEND this unit, play with it till you get them the way you like them, we prefer the thinner ones and I will be making them for Christmas Eve. There are a few good recipes in the little booklet, try that one first before branching off into other recipes.excellent quality - I returned a different model that was hand held over stove ( too heavy for me, and messy / dangerous when batter ran out onto flame) - and upgraded to this unit. I’m very impressed with this machine - I bought from warehouse - never used in a damaged box for $35 / March 2019
