Disclaimer: I've never purchased or used a pasta maker before, so I'm not sure how much of this is normal. When I first got it, I did a test spin to make sure everything was good, and the main roller part (not the part that cuts the pasta) was insanely and unbearably squeaky. I decided to run out and purchase some mineral oil and put some on the corners, and after that it was no longer squeaky. However, considering the small amount of people I could find online talking about squeaky pasta rollers, this led me to believe that this wasn't a normal experience. Nonetheless, the fix was easy. The pasta roller can't really deal with a whole lot of volume at a time. That's not a huge issue, but it took me 4 or 5 "chunks" of pasta to get through a whole rolling session with just a two-egg dough. Took me a bit of trial and error to figure out how much I could do at a time (it does offer guidance in the instructions, but a 1/4" of dough at a time like it suggests seemed like way too little and the picture they show for that step didn't even show 1/4", so I didn't trust it -- and I was right not to).The rolling is super easy. It recommends to flour the dough in-between rolls. I ignored that at first because I was worried that the flour would prevent the dough from sticking back to itself, but the flouring is essential. Without flour, there's way too much friction and the dough would tear in the roller. After I started actually listening and adding flour between rolls, it came out perfectly.A problem I had was with the pasta roller. Not sure if this is normal, or if this is user error, but I used the smaller pasta cutter, and it would consistently group up the pasta in twos. So instead of having just a bunch of single spaghettis I would have half as many double strands stuck together. I was prying them apart when I first started, but I eventually just accepted defeat and kept the double strands since it was 100% consistent on wanting to stick together exactly two at a time anyways.I think this could have possibly been caused by me rolling the dough too thin (I rolled to the "6" setting, maybe I should have stopped at 5?), but I'm not sure.Another thing is the way this attaches to countertops. This is *not* made for a kitchen that looks like mine apparently. The thing you twist on to secure it to a counter is such a shape that it does not work on any area of my counter. The twisty screw part has a hook that juts out, which effectively prevents me from turning it 360° since it ends up hitting a drawer or something. My countertops have very little clearing under them. I had to attach it to a cutting board instead, which wasn't super ideal, but it worked well enough. I imagine it would attach just fine to most tables, but I didn't try that. It needs a bit of clearing under the countertop so you can twist the screw to secure it.Lastly, I would have really appreciated the ability to use the lever on either side of the machine. The way it currently is was kind of awkward for me to use at first, and I would have preferred to have the lever on the opposite side because of the orientation it needed to be in for my kitchen. I figure this wouldn't be an issue for most people, since you could just turn the machine around, but there was essentially a single location the machine could be in my entire kitchen, and it just so happened to be oriented in a way that the knob was on the "wrong" side for my preferences. Not a big deal at all, and I got over it, but it would have been appreciated to have the option.Pasta came out tasty, and considering I had never used anything like this in my life, I would say that it seems like a fine product despite my issues with it.The pasta machine is easy to use and the directions explained how to use the machine easily. I was a little confused on how to clean it but the machine worked great and the pasta was good! Worth the money!I used this for the first time this week and the pasta turned out perfect. I love all the thickness settings and you can get pasta super thin with this thing. Great for when making ravioli. The only thing I would change would be to have the handle lock in place when rolling. It comes out easy so you can the put it in the cutting mechanism for when ready to cut the pasta after using the roller. This isn’t enough for me to dislike it but it would just be a nice upgrade if it locked. Overall I would recommend this roller. There’s nothing hand rolling your pasta. It’s great! My new son-in-law loves this. He and my daughter gave his mother a cheaper one for her birthday. This she canʼt get into her purse to sneak away. This, but the drying rack I bought to go with it - letʼs say the two of them have had to double their workouts. The noodles come out perfectly for anything they need.I bought one for myself, only I haven’t used it yet.Maybe tomorrow! You Weill love using this to make your own pasta, we do!I really enjoy making pasta and got this as a birthday present. I’ve made pasta at least once a week now in the past 2 months, we are hooked! Downfalls to this gadget: it sometimes squeals at random during use. Doesn’t affect its capability but it’s annoying. AND no matter what I try the attachment for cutting the pasta into linguine or spaghetti always jams up. At first it was just once or twice while feeding sheets threw but last night it was every single sheet that went threw got jammed on one area. I have to do surgery on the machine to get dough out after each sheet goes threw. (Because the machine does not come apart for easy cleaning) and I noticed last night a few pieces were not being cut all the way threw so they were slightly attached. It wasn’t on my own fault because it repeatedly happened in the same area of the machine.A month or so ago I would of rated 5 stars but now it’s only 3.We have just started using this pasta roller and so far it works wonderfully. The only problem is a horrible screeching sound when using the handle to roll the pasta out. Not sure how to fix this. I would think to oil it but I don’t want anything to get on the actual pasta. Hopefully this can be resolved or else we might return it and order another. This pasta maker allowed me to change my mother-in-law recipe from ugly noodles soup to perfect noodle soup! It is so easy to setup, use and clean; total winner. Setup is literally 2 steps then putting the pasta dough thru the machine is immensely satisfying. Then the beautiful noodles come out. After strapping it to the table and finishing the pasta job, i want to unstrap if from the table and the top plastic that holds the bolt got lose and at a point just fell of. I had to use extra tools to remove it from the table. I dont know how i am going to use it next time without fixing it to the table. The thickness across the roller isn't uniform, causing the pasta to get rolled out thinner on one side than the other. This causes the entire sheet to curve as it goes through and makes the pasta really difficult to work with. Do not buy.Fantastic pasta machine! I have always wanted a pasta machine and this is great for newbies. Easy to set-up and use and with adjustable pasta thickness, makes perfect pasta every time! It's great! I finally no longer need to roll and cut the dough by hand. Makes the perfect Fettuccine! My family loved the taste of handmade pasta!Easy to use. Makes delicious pasta!
