My husband and I keep these on our bathroom counter & use them to soak our mouthguards in. Understated, attractive, & discreet.I ordered these a second time for my neighbor she like them . so i thought why not .Made good chawanmushiProduct seems to be able to easily chip as one of the cups has a few dings, but these may just be minute imperfections that come with a hand made product. I have not dropped them as I imagine such a fall would break them. Products reliably keep my oatmeal warm, Design has the cup feel small, but it is a good size for a drink. The color is gorgeous and a great piece to have.I wanted something that I could easily fit in my steamer and this does the trick.However my memories of actual Japanese chawanmushi bowls when I was living in Tokyo is that they tend to be thinner and a bit taller. This actually seems to be a repurposed covered tea cup which is popularly used in China and it is indeed made in China.This were exactly what I was looking for. I had to return them right away because one of the lids came broken. But I was promptly sent a replacement. Very good customer service.I purchased these for exactly what they are intended to do - Chawanmushi (or Japanese egg custard). I bought 2 sets a total of 4.
