I purchased this and a kit of Hawaiian snow cone syrups one hot day this summer. It takes up a fair amount of real estate in the kitchen by the sink, but its worth it to make snow cones when its really hot right?Well... We did use it several times for a few weeks, but everyone commented on the ice not being very fine and having a lot of large chunks. Then one day I made a snow cone in the Ninja and from then on I use that because the ice is so much finer and easier to eat.Seriously, if you already have a blender that can do smoothies - try it with snow cone syrup and see how it works before buying this thing.Wonderful machine to use to make snow cones after doing yard work in Florida. Highly recommendedIt was easy, maybe a little loud, but created amazing snowcone ice. Led to fun and joyful memory making times.Love itWe are loving this ice shaver! It is SO loud, but so are my kids and blenders. So this fits right in. I like that it turns off if the top is opened making it safer to use around the kids.I don’t like the wimpy size capture bowl it comes with. Would it be that much harder to design something bigger,?! When I haul this unit out I am making more than just a tiny bit of ice! I just shove a cookie tray under the whole unit, pre chilled, to grab and the distribute the shaved ice. Works easier and no melting ice and water everywhere messes to clean up.Excellent with Monin brands syrups. They make a delicious Hawaiian blend one that definitely gives a tropical vibe when used! Two thumbs up. Our old unit was a $ little plastic thing with one blade - it worked okay but was slow and spit out really big ice pieces, thus it wasn’t used often. The ice texture on this one is a vast improvement. Learn from my experience and start with something decent quality the first time, you (and your kids, and their friends…. !) will have a lot of fun with this beastly beauty of a machine - single function, but it does that single function very well!My one “con” is simply size - this item is big and heavy, so you will need a decent size hole to park it in. For us that’s the garage.Fill with ice, push the handle/lid/cover in, and you instantly have a bowl full of shaved ice or snow. This ice shaver machine is very easy to use, super fast, and works great! If I push easy, I get larger sized shavings (like little pellets) and if I push harder, I get snow. The noise is loud but the action happens super fast so the noise is very brief. The fit of the ice catcher bowl isn't the best and I end up with water on the counter every single time after using this machine but I just turn it off and throw down a towel and walk away. I really do love this machine and it's so much easier to use than the blender for making slushies or snow cones. I only wish that the bowl fit better or that there was a chute that directed the shaved ice into the center of the bowl.I like this ice shaver for making a lot of ice drinks/deserts. It's great for serving multiple persons. For a single serving I'd use a blender, its more efficient. This appliance is great for making snow-cones, or for our family, asian ice deserts with fruit. This ice maker is easy to use, turn on the master switch, put ice into the chute and pull lever to activate the spinning blades. The lever will push ice against the spinning blades and makes the shaved ice. There is a nice safety feature which only activates the spinning blades when the lever is pulled. Once you lift the chute cover (with the lever) the spinning blades stop. The shaver works fast but noisy for that brief moment. You have to turn the ice bowl as the ice gets shaved. The inner side of the bowl will fill up with shaved ice and overflow if you don't rotate the bowl. Deserts are usually the fun part of the meal, now making it is just as fun.I'm very impressed with this little machine! I've been making smoothies and 'snow cone' ice for years in various blenders, or at least have been trying to. I've never been satisfied with the results until now. This thing makes perfect snow cone ice! Not only that, but it does it extremely quickly and effortlessly. Just sdrop the ice in and push down. Instant snow cone ice. It works that good. I've been having so much fun freezing various juices and running them through this.I have a Kumio ice maker. If you want perfect, small snow cone ice, I've found the smaller, softer, hollow ice the ice machine produces perfect.I don't really have anything negative to say about this OKF machine, but if I had to pick something I would say, and I'm nitpicking...when shaving the ice, you put the ice in and push down. While doing that, a sizeable amount of shaved ice escapes out of the top of the lid. It sounds worse than it is though, because it just slides off into the bowl.All in all, just buy it. If you're looking at this, it's because you're looking for something like this, and this won't disappoint. 5 stars.
